April In Bloom

Here are a few stories I gathered from around the interwebs this month:

Laura Reiley reported on deception in farm-to-table marketing in the Tampa Tribune. All too often restaurants promote organic food grown by local farmers, but that’s not what ends up on your plate. Here’s a follow-up interview with Reiley on NPR.corkscrew swampI have no idea how this woman held on to her camera as this panther scurried past her on the boardwalk of Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary. Here’s my post on the sanctuary, a 2.5 mile walk into the heart of the Everglades.AvocadosThe window for a perfectly ripe avocado is so short. Here’s how to ripen an avocado in 10 minutes. I haven’t tried it yet. Hope it works.

The sanctuary gives each cat a home where they can run and play and even swim. Their stories broke our hearts, but we’re thankful for all they do to save them. It inspired dozens of cat puns.
