Avocado Gazpacho
Yesterday we had our first “cold front.” As I drove past our local coffee shop, I saw a woman holding a to-go cup with both hands and a sweater tied around her neck.
Matt’s Mango Salsa
When my friend Matt planted a gigantic bowl of this salsa on my kitchen counter, everyone gathered around to oooh and ahhh. Matt is known for making the best mango salsa on Pine Island (an island famous for its mangos).
Nam Pla Prik
We spent a week with family in Gloucester, Massachusetts. We ate lots of sweet corn, homegrown tomatoes, lobster, and all that classic New England summer fare.
Vietnamese Noodle Salad
We love Vietnamese food for lunch– pho, bánh mì, and my favorite, bún. Bún is a noodle salad. It’s a bold mix of contrasting of flavors and textures: crunchy vegetables, aromatic herbs, cool rice noodles, spicy sauce, and crushed peanuts.
Flounder with Corn & Avocado
Flounder is the most delicate fish we eat. It requires special preparation, but that’s not to say it’s complicated or time-consuming. On the contrary, it can be the quickest, easiest fish dinner you’ll ever make.
Kaffir Lime and Mango Vinaigrette
We usually find kaffir lime leaves in bowls of Thai soup. Just like bay leaves, they impart their essence to the broth, but they’re meant to be left behind because the whole leaves are not exactly palatable.
Pickled Peppers
We’ve got fruit dripping from our trees, but the vegetable garden is bleak. Not much can withstand the heat and humidity. Peppers are an exception. They actually thrive in it.
