I love wandering around Key West, peeking past picket fences. Old conch houses surrounded by lush gardens of palms, flowers and crotons are so enchanting.

October In Bloom
The windows are open, the garden is thriving, and the water is cool. October has been so refreshing.
Key West Picket Fences
Key West is 4 miles long and 1 mile wide, and one big riot of color. Quaint bungalows are painted Easter egg colors and tiny gardens overflow with vivid blooms. It would be overwhelming without one important element: the white picket fences.
Key West Cemetery
A hurricane in 1846 swept through the original beachside Key West Cemetery, leaving a gruesome scene in its aftermath. It was relocated to the highest elevation in town. Because of this, some gravestones are older than the cemetery itself.
The Conch Republic In Bloom
There is so much in bloom this month in the Florida Keys. Huge royal poincianas tower over the rooftops in vivid red, fuchsia bougainvilleas pour over fences, and gardens are filled with every color of plumeria.
